About me
Mr. Samuel Kimeu is a governance, human rights and project management expert currently serving as the Executive Director of Africa’s Voices. Here he leads a team of professionals working to provide and develop innovative ways for the peoples voices to shape decisions that affect them. He previously served as the Executive Director, Transparency International-Kenya (2010-2020), leading the fight against corruption and advocating for a better legal and institutional framework for the management of corruption and ethics in Kenya. He also served in various capacities including as the Executive Director of the Kenyan Section of the International Commission of Jurists (2005-2006). He was the Governance Specialist at the Embassy of Finland in Nairobi (2007-2010) and taught law at the Kenyatta University School of Law in Nairobi-Kenya (2009-2010). He is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and holds a Master of Laws degree in International Human Rights from the University of Notre Dame in Indiana, USA. He received his Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Nairobi and is a member of both the Law Society of Kenya and the East Africa Law Society.
Mr. Kimeu has previously served a three-year term as an elected member of the International Board of Transparency International (Oct 2017-Nov 2020) and as the Treasurer of the National Taxpayers Association (2012-2020). He has also served two two-year terms as an elected member of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (Elected in July 2019 & October 2021).
Mr. Kimeu’s professional interests are in governance, ethics, anti-corruption, human rights and the rule of law. He has contributed significantly to the development of the legal and institutional framework governing the management of corruption and ethics within Kenya’s public and private sector. He is a public intellectual who offers interviews and writes articles for mass engagement. He believes that since virtually everything that is done by governments and public authorities is done in the name and for the benefit of the people, the peoples’ voices must have prime of place in informing and shaping the decisions that are made on their behalf.
